Dettagli

The Nikon 35mm f1.4 G AF-S Nikkor Lens is a professional, wide-angle, single-focal-length lens designed for use with Nikon’s FX-format and DX DSLRs. The lens incorporates Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM) for fast and quiet auto-focus and Nano Crystal coating for outstandingly sharp images, even in low-light. The 9-blade aperture creates beautiful bokeh in out-of-focus areas of the image, making it a joy for photography at maximum aperture. The Nikon 35mm f1.4 G AF-S Nikkor Lens features a robust build and outstanding optical performance, making it the ideal lens for photographers who want a hard working lens.

35mm f1.4 G AF-S Nikkor Lens main features

- Professional, wide-angle FX-format lens.

- 35mm focal length (DX equivalent: 52.5mm) with fast f/1.4 aperture.

- Outstanding optical performance: boasts an aspherical lens element for superior resolution and contrast.

- Bright Viewfinder image.

- Nano Crystal coat reduces ghost and flare.

- 9-blade rounded diaphragm opening for super-smooth bokeh.

- SWM (Silent Wave Motor) for quiet and accurate autofocus.

Technical terms

DX Format

DX is a lens designed exclusively for their APS-C sensored DSLRs, but can be used on their full frame cameras like 35 mm SLRs and full frame digital SLRs like the D3 series and D700 DSLRs. All lenses designated as DX type can be used with DX format digital SLR cameras. Many Nikkor lenses designed for FX or 35mm (135) film formats can also be used with DX format digital SLR cameras. The effect of using a Nikkor lens on a DX format camera will produce a magnification of the focal length of the lens by a factor of 1.5x (eg. a 50mm lens will produce the equivilant of a 75mm focal length).

G lenses do not have an aperture ring on the lens and must be controlled using the command dial on the camera.

FX format

The larger FX image sensor is virtually the same size as the 35mm (135) film format which means that the focal length of a lens used on either format will be virtually the same. Many Nikkor auto focus and manual focus lenses can be used with FX format cameras.

AF-Silent Wave Motor (AF-S) is what Nikon calls their ultra fast Auto-Focusing lenses which utilise Nikons silent wave motor (~SWM). This system works by converting travelling waves into rotational energy to focus the optics the ultrasonic waves move in a spiral pattern inside the barrel with the motor positioned on top of the waves driving it from below.
